DriveTest Canada

Tools

Small tools that answer one question each

Each one exists because a real question comes up over and over, gets answered badly on forums, and has a checkable answer sitting in a published rule or a public release.
A steel rule, a set of dividers, a folded blank map and a key on a ring, arranged flat and evenly spaced on a pale surface.

A straight rural road running to a low horizon between snow dusted fields, bare maples along one side and a grain elevator silhouetted far off.Open

Ontario licence timeline

When your G2 road test opens and when the G1 window shuts

Put in the day you passed the G1 and see both dates and the room between them. It leaves the G road test blank, because we hold no sourced waiting period for it.
A snow covered road curving through rolling hills past a stand of bare hardwoods, with the steep tin roof of a single farmhouse in the distance and snowbanks cut sharp by a plough.Open

Novice driver restrictions

Whether the drive you are about to make is one your licence allows

Answer seven questions and get a yes or a no with the rule and the Act behind it. Where a rule exists and we do not hold the detail, it says that instead of guessing.

What a licence costs

What the whole path costs, from first knowledge test to full licence

Add the attempts you failed and see which steps have no published fee we can trace. The total is a floor, not the whole bill.
A car park seen straight down from above in winter, painted bays and marked practice lanes clear of snow, with snow pushed into ridges at the edges.Open

Easiest DriveTest centre

How the centre you would book compares with every other one

No distances are shown anywhere, because the release carries no address and no coordinate for any of them.
A coastal highway curving along a forested mountainside above a pale inlet, with layered ridges fading into haze and low cloud sitting in the valley.Open

Class 5 without a second road test

Where your own dates sit against the criteria ICBC publishes

British Columbia is replacing the second road test with a reading of the driving record ICBC already holds. Every line names the official page it came from.
A plain compact hatchback carrying no badges, stopped at a painted stop line on a wet suburban road, seen low and from behind with the crossing road empty.Open

Road test vehicle check

Whether the car you are bringing will get through the walk around

Work through the checks that decide whether a road test starts at all, with a line on each one saying why it matters. The ticks stay in your browser.

What these tools will and will not do

Every figure any of them prints comes out of our data layer with a named source and the date it was checked. None of them invents a fee, a waiting period or a pass rate to fill a gap, and where a gap exists the tool says so on the line that needed it. That is a deliberate trade: a blank sends you to the body that actually publishes the answer, and a plausible wrong number does not.

Nothing you type goes anywhere. What you enter is kept in your own browser so a page remembers it next time, there is no account behind any of it, and clearing your browser data clears everything these tools hold. Every one of them is free, with no account and nothing held back until you pay.

None of this is legal advice. Your licensing body is the authority on your own licence, and where an answer here matters, check it with them before you drive or before you pay.
