  • The basic knowledge exam and sign exam are separate. You need 80 percent on each and rewrite only an exam you fail.
  • Self-study applicants take the exams in person and can book and prepay through MySGI. Walk-ins are offered only in Regina and Saskatoon. High School Driver Education students write online through MySGI.
  • Larger centres offer computer-based exams with translation in more than 100 languages. Smaller centres use paper exams.
  • Most applicants must be 16. Students in High School Driver Education may apply at 15, and applicants under 18 need parental consent.
  • Bring original identification. After passing, take 2 residency documents and 2 identity documents to a motor licence issuer.
  • The vision test is part of the knowledge exam appointment and its fee.
  • You may write only once per day, so the next attempt can be booked for the following day. A successful result is valid for 1 year. Study the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook.
  • Driver education is required before the Class 5 road test. The high school course has 30 classroom hours and 6 in-car hours. The commercial course has 6 classroom hours and 6 in-car hours.
  • The Class 5 road test costs $55 per attempt and a failed road test has a wait of at least 2 weeks.
  • An annual Class 7 payment plan costs $25 each year. Missing the payment cancels the licence.
