- Take the test in person at an Alberta registry agent office. You may try once per day and pay the fee for every attempt.
- It is offered in Amharic, Arabic (Modern Standard), Chinese (Simplified), Italian, Korean, Oromo, Polish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Chinese (Traditional), Cree, Dutch, English, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Farsi, French, German, Hindi, Thai, Ukrainian, Urdu and Tagalog.
- Audio, oral-assisted and oral options are available. Oral tests are in English only. A translator may be approved after at least 3 attempts, or without that wait when the requested language is not in the computer system.
- Bring acceptable ID. A vision test is required before purchasing the learner licence card.
- Study the Driver's Guide to operation, safety, and licensing: cars and light trucks.
- Class 7 drivers cannot drive from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. and must have zero alcohol while driving. Suspension begins at 8 demerit points.
- Driver education is recommended but not mandatory. Applicants under 18 need parental or guardian consent.
